"Chick Night on the Boardwalk!"

Audrey and I had talked about going to get 'airbrush tattoos' at some point during our vacation... The old saying 'time flies when you're having fun!' was certainly true for us! Our last night in Jersey we were all visiting out on the balcony around the picnic table when we realized that we didn't get our 'tattoos'!! Instead of giving in to this reality we decided to 'go for it'!! (Thanks to Cheryl who had made the comment which brought it back to our memory in the first place!)

We were running out of time...... by now it was 10:00PM and the boardwalk shops start closing between 11-11:30PM!! Patty was the driver for the event (she sure knows her way around this town!) and within 20 minutes of the reminder comment we were parking the van and heading in to find the kiosk!!

Here's the whole group! We had a BLAST! (Patty, Me, Audrey, Terry & Cheryl) A night to remember!!

After we all got our tattoos and had our pictures taken, we walked part of the boardwalk, checked out a few other shops, had some funnel cake, laughed until we held our sides and made it back to the condos by 1:45AM!! Another 'chick night' is a must!!

Our AWESOME Vacation....

We took our first vacation in 5 years last week! We went to Ocean City, NJ for a wonderful week of sunshine & family fun! Here's our family picture on the last day..... A week sure flies by when we are having fun! We went down with another family (Chuck & Patty) and stayed in the condo unit beside them!! Here's a picture of all the kids with 'Mom-mom' (grandmother to Ben, Jesse & Sam)!! She lovingly is like a grandmother to our kids too! We aren't sure if she has more fun watching the kids having fun or actually doing things and having fun herself! Either way, she is a blessing to all who know her!! (Jesse, Travis, Ben, Mimi, Austin, Audrey & Sam in the front)

In addition to the blessing of being there at all..... we had another AWESOME treat!! Friends, Bill & Cheryl on the right (from Virginia) and Andy & Terry in blue (from Hawaii) arrived to share a condo unit too and we all had SOOOOO MUCH FUN TOGETHER!! The 8 of us went to church together 10-15 years ago when they lived in NH! It was a huge blessing to play catch up! Even after all these years we picked up right where we left off..... with Jesus as the center of our relationships, all the time apart didn't matter at all! (The ONLY thing that changed over the years was the kids' height!) I CAN'T WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN!! Patty & Chuck on the left and Pete & I are in back center!

I Never Thought I'd Do This..... :)))

I never thought I'd do this... but, yesterday while I was at the library picking up a couple of 'fluff' books (by Barabara Delinsky) and a couple of movies (Good Will Hunting & Yanks), the question popped into my mind.... "I wonder if they are doing a book club over the summer?" (You know the ones I mean.... where everyone reads the same book and then gets together to discuss it.) When I got to the checkout counter, lo and behold right there beside me was the information for July.....

"Brown Bag Book Group!" Wednesday, July 18 NOON.
Bring your bagged lunch along with your comments & imporessions of "In Her Shoes" by Jennifer Weiner. The library will provide dessert & beverage. Book are available now.

Hmmmm, what's a girl to do? I inquired about how the book group is run and if there were any more books available! She very nicely gave me the book, the list of books for the rest of the year.... and even the discussion questions for July! I told her that I probably would be on vacation during this meeting but still wanted to challange myself to do the questions anyways!
We had a nice visit and I took my 3 books & 2 movies and headed for home!!

I find myself laughing at myself!! It's funny, the pre-conceived image of 'the kind of person' who gets involved in book groups that I've pictured are not 'me'.... until now!! :))) I'm looking forward to the challange and to meeting other people in the community! Well, I will definately miss the July date, but I"ll pick up the next book "The Secret Life Of Lobsters" by Trevor Corson, for the August meeting!

It Was A Day To Remember....

Friday, June 22, 2007 was a day to remember forever..... at least for our family! It is official.... Travis has graduated high school! :) He took part in the graduation ceremonies at the Christian school we've been using as our umbrella school and ooohhhhh what a beautiful ceremony it was!
