The 3 grands and I had fun today!
Here's the end result.... then I'll show you the process!
I gave each child a quart freezer zipper top style bag and to each bag we added:
1/2 Cup flour
1/2 TBSP sugar
1 tsp. yeast
1/2 Cup WARM water
Squeeze the air out of the bag and seal.
Squish the bag with hands until well mixed.
Let it rest 10 minutes.... bubbles will form!
Open the bag and add :
1/2 Cup flour
1 1/2 TBSP oil
1/4 tsp. salt
Seal the bag and squish with hands again, mixing well!
Add the last 1/2 Cup of flour and mix again the same way.
Remove the dough from the bag onto a lightly floured surface
and knead for 5-10 minutes until it is smooth.
Form into loaf shape and put into a greased mini loaf pan!
You can also double this recipe and use a regular sized loaf pan if you want.
Cover with a clean warm, damp towel (I don't usually cover mine)
and allow the dough to rise... doubling in size, about 30 minutes.
Bake in a 375* oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown!
Remove from oven and cool out of pans on cooling racks!
Not only is it a fun project, but a delicious one too!
